The Economic Development task force of Lower Township made a pitch before council there to change the name of the township. The group, involving some of the better known business leaders of Lower Township, said they thought it made sense as many people don’t know where Lower Township is. Some business already identify themselves with Cape May, like the Cape May Brewery or Cape May Winery, both of which are in Lower Township. Council said they would look into the issue but had to weight cost and residents desire to stick with tradition.
