Freeholder Gerald Thornton announced today that since the county introduced the new discount prescription drug card at the Freeholder Meeting on July 13, 2010; nearly 10,000 cards have been distributed. Freeholder Thornton said, “I am thrilled that county residents are taking advantage of this discount program. Because of the interest from county residents, an additional 20,000 cards have been ordered.”
Any resident of Cape May County can use the Cape May County Rx Card and save up to 75% on prescription medications. The Card is available to all residents, regardless of income, age or insurance status. There is no application to complete and there are no claim forms to file. Simply show your Cape May County Rx Card along with a valid prescription at a participating pharmacy to receive the discount.
The Cape May County Rx Card is being offered to help uninsured and underinsured residents afford their prescription medications. Also, the program can be used by people who have health insurance coverage with no prescription benefits or people who have prescription coverage can use this program for non-formulary or non-covered drugs.
Apart from saving on prescription drugs, the discount card also offers savings on eyeglasses, nutritional supplements, diabetic supplies, Lasik surgery, hearing aids and teeth whitening.
The Cape May County Rx Card is available at the Department of Health, the Cape May County Department of Aging, county senior centers and at Cape May County libraries. Also, residents can download a free card, search drug pricing, and locate participating pharmacies at www.cmchealth.net.
