Wildwood will host a POW/MIA tribute at the Wildwoods Vietnam Veterans Remembrance Wall located on Ocean Avenue, between Montgomery and Burk Avenues, across from the Wildwoods Convention Center. The patriotic ceremony, which will honor America’s missing from all wars, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 1. The public is encouraged to attend.
The American Legion Auxiliary, Department of New Jersey, is sponsoring the event in tribute to the sacrifices and remarkable determination of veterans captured as prisoners of war. The occasion also remembers those who remain unaccounted for and aspires to give their families comfort in knowing that America has not forgotten them. Some 142,257 American service men and women were captured and interred from World War I through the Gulf War; over 20,000 are still alive.
After the ceremony, there will be a Social at the American Legion Post 184, located at 4200 Atlantic Avenue, at Roberts Avenue, in Wildwood. All American Legion family members are invited to attend.
