A very strange opening night in local high school basketball. In a game broadcast live on WCZT Radio with Scott Wahl and Buddy Tarbotton, the boys basketball game between Middle Township and Lower Cape May was suspended halfway through the first quarter with Middle Township leading, 5-4. The game was played at Lower Cape May Regional High School, and the suspension was called because of condensation on one end of the floor. The game was stopped several times in the first quarter as crews had to dry the baseline. The moisture on the floor was caused by people walking inside the gym with snow on their feet, and by a very warm gym and cold air outdoors. Several hundred people were packed in the gym with a standing room only crowd. Athletic directors from both schools are meeting to pick a date when the game will be resumed. The game will start fresh with a 0-0 tie. When we learn of the makeup date, we will pass it along.
