A pair of Egg Harbor Township Police officers helped rescue a family from a house fire. The incident occurred on Wednesday at 2:11 a.m. Officer Charles Davenport and Officer Brian Dickson arrived at a home on Timberwood Dr. when they discovered smoke blowing over the Atlantic City Expressway. Upon arrival they located the home in question and Officer Davenport started banging on the doors and windows to alert those inside of the fire. Officer Dickson found and utilized the homes garden hose to start knocking down the fire. The occupants of the home were safely evacuated and the fire department extinguished the fire. An investigation by the Township Fire Official determined the cause of the fire to be accidental, a bag of trash under the deck caught fire which spread to the deck. Due to these officer’s actions, the home received only minor damage and no injuries occurred.
