This weekend is Polar Bear Plunge weekend in Sea Isle City. It also marks the second anniversary of the death of Tracy Hottenstein in Sea Isle who’s body was found on the bay front several hours after the 2009 polar bear plunge took place. The Hottenstein family has sued 19 defendants in connection with the case, alleging the polar bear plunge event is just a huge public alcohol consumption event in the resort. The polar bear plunge brings tens of thousands of people to Sea Isle City every year at this time, and many local businesses benefit from the influx of weekend visitors. Sunny, windy conditions will be on the beach today for this year’s plunge.
