PLEASANTVILLE NAMES NEW SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT

The Pleasantville Board of Education named Assistant Superintendent Garnell Bailey as acting superintendent at their meeting Monday night by a 4-0 vote. The Press of Atlantic City reports that the appointment is on a month-to-month basis until the dispute over the appointment of Clarence Alston is resolved. The vote will be reviewed by the Atlantic County Office of Education and the state monitor, as only six of the nine board members are eligible to vote due to conflicts, and two of them did not attend the meeting.
