A 52-year-old Ventnor man arrested in February for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl, entered a guilty plea today to aggravated sexual assault and will be sentenced to seven years in prison, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel stated.
In accordance with the plea agreement, Pascual Lopez, who has no prior criminal record, must serve 85-percent of the prison term or five years, 11 months and 12 days before becoming eligible for parole. Upon release from prison, Lopez will be subject to Megan’s Law restrictions and parole supervision for life, according to Assistant Prosecutor Kelli Fallon, who represented the state.
Superior Court Judge Mark Sandson presided over the proceeding. The court will set the sentencing date.
