A plan to save turtles along Route 147 in North Wildwood was announced on Thursday. State Senator Jeff Van Drew, the North Wildwood Terrapin Rescue, and the Wetlands Institute announced plans to ask the Department of Transportation to install barrier fencing to the guardrails along the roadway that would prevent terrapin from cross. North Wildwood is the only area coastal town that does not have any fencing. A survey done by the North Wildwood Terrapin Rescue showed that 85 terrapin were killed during nesting season this year, over a six to seven week period.
