PILOT ERROR CA– USE OF FATAL PLANE CRASH

The National Transportation Safety Board has ruled that pilot error caused a fatal plane crash that occurred last summer at the Hammonton Municipal Airport. David Mitchell, 71, of Vorhees was killed on August 20th, 2011, when his plane collided with a stunt plane piloted by 33 year-old Kirill Barsukov of Jersey City, who sustained critical injuries. The report stated that Mitchell’s failure to see and avoid Barsukov’s plane caused the crash. The report said Mitchell failed to use proper collision avoidance strategies in an area of potential aerobatic activity.
