Thursday night is round one of the Major League baseball draft and a Barnegat High School senior pitcher is projected to be a first round pick. Jason Groome, one of the top high school pitchers in the country, changed his college commitment from Vanderbilt to Chipola Junior College, so he could possibly play one year of college ball if things don’t work out for him in this year’s draft. The Phillies have the number one overall pick and could pick the New Jersey native, but are more likely to select A.J. Puk, a 6-foot-7 lefty pitcher from Florida.
