Avalon officials are working on a plan to allow for pets to be taken care of in the event of an evacuation. The winter storms from this past year showed that many homeowners did not want to leave their pets behind in the event of an evacuation. The Public Information Officer Scott Wahl says that city officials are planning to have a trailer available for pets to go, where they would be checked on by a veterinarian every few hours. The animals would be kept safe during an evacuation event, so the owner could be properly cared for.
