New legislation has been introduced that would have parents pay if their children need to attend summer school. Families below the federal poverty line would be exempted from this bill. State school officials say that summer school as a whole could have to be eliminated otherwise. The measure has passed through a Senate committee. Estimates place the summer tuition amount at $200.
