A Senate committee approved a bill on Monday that would provide paid sick time to all employees in New Jersey. If the measure became law, the state would become the fourth to provide the benefit to workers. Businesses have rallied against it, saying it is another burdensome measure placed on business that will cost them. Workers could get an hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked. Employees could earn at least 40 or 72 hours of paid sick time depending whether it was a business of 10 or less employees or more than 10 employees.
