The owner of a local winery is suing the borough of West Cape May and Mayor Pam Kaithern, according to a report in The Press of Atlantic City. Barbara Bray Wilde, the owner of Willow Creek Winery, alleges in her lawsuit that Mayor Kaithern directed inspection officials to issue baseless stop-work orders and citations, while ignoring violations on neighboring properties. At issue is the winery’s wedding business, which Wilde is trying to build, against objections from local residents and a 2003 deed restriction on the property. On Thursday the NJ Department of Environmental Protection told The Press that the winery has passed all necessary inspections.
