Democrats will attempt to override a veto by Gov. Chris Christie to stop the “millionaire’s tax.” Senate President Steve Sweeney made public comments on Wednesday that the senate will take a vote on the measure, even though it is unlikely to pass. Democrats have the majority, but would need enough Republican support to have the two-thirds majority needed for an override. The tax rate for people making over $1 million would go to 10.75 percent, from 8.97 percent.
