Senate Budget Chairman Paul Sarlo sent a letter to Stockton University President Herman J. Saatkamp Jr. requesting that he appear before the committee this week to discuss the school’s recent initiative to establish a satellite campus on the grounds of the former Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. The senator noted that he is aware the president tendered his resignation effective later this year, but said he would like to hear from him regarding the proposal and his knowledge of the financial position of Showboat’s parent corporation at the time of the contract negotiation with the casino. Senator Sarlo asked that President Saatkamp appear before the committee next Thursday, April 30, at 10 a.m. when the committee will be reviewing the Governor’s FY2016 budget recommendation for higher education.
