Two Atlantic City men were charged and one is dead, following a Monday incident in the city. Police there say that they were called to the scene of the Stanley Holmes Village for two armed men.
At the scene, officers encountered Terry Davis, 24, and Derreck Mack, 18. Police officers ordered Davis and Mack to stop and immediately drop their weapons. Davis followed the officers’ commands and was apprehended. Mack fled on foot and was pursued by police to the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, where a uniformed officer allegedly fired shots, wounding Mack. He would eventually die from those injuries.
Mack’s brother, Raymond Mack, 19, was arrested for assaulting an Atlantic City Police Officer. He was charged with committing aggravated assault by attempting to cause bodily injury to a uniformed Sergeant. The charges allege that Mack punched the Sergeant in the face with a closed fist. Mack was additionally charged with possession of cocaine.
Both defendants were transported to the Atlantic County Justice facility and lodged on $100,000 full cash bail.
