As one longtime member of the Lower Township Police Department retired, two Lower Township police officers were promoted and took the oath of office at the August 3 council meeting before a crowd of their families, colleagues and residents. Police Chief William Mastriana and Lower Township Council honored Captain Thomas Beeby for over thirty years of service in law enforcement. Beeby started his career in 1985 in the county Sheriff’s Department as a corrections officer. He then was a member of the first graduation class of the Cape May County Police Academy. He joined the Lower Township Police Department in 1992. As Beeby retired, the Lower Township Police Department promoted Martin Biersbach to Captain and William Priole and Lieutenant.
