The Bridgeton Police Department are mourning the passing of Sgt. Christopher L. Blackburn who died in a one-vehicle accident while off duty in Pittsgrove Township early Saturday morning. The accident is being investigated by the New Jersey State Police.
Sgt. Blackburn, 38, a graduate of Rowan University, was a 12-year decorated veteran of the department who was promoted to his current rank in 2008. During his career, Sgt. Blackburn served in both the department’s patrol and criminal investigations bureau and was a former K9 officer.
