Cape May County has privatized two areas of government in the past year, but there is one area that is off the table. Administrator Steven O’Connor tells Coastal Broadcasting that privatizing the nursing home will not take place. The home operates at a $3.4 million deficit, but the county is simply looking to cut that number down. A task force has been put in place, with union support, to look at ways to cut extra dollars. Rumors of the county looking to put the home in private hands are untrue, at least for now. O’Connor was confident that reductions would be found in the overall spending plan of the nursing home.
