A solid waste hauler under contract with some beach communities in our area has told Ocean City it will no longer collect recyclables or yard waste starting Monday. Gold Medal Environmental announced agreements with Avalon, and three Wildwoods communities, that provide a work around of high fuel and labor costs, and labor shortages. However, Ocean City is noted to have not reached an agreement so the company intends to collect trash there, but not recyclables or yard waste, according to a company press release. Avalon was the first community in our region to reach a memorandum of understanding.
