OCEAN CITY OFFICER GETS AWARD FROM COAST GUARD

On Monday, the U.S. Coast Guard presented an outstanding service award to an Ocean City patrolman. John Porreca was recognized for his work with the Ocean City Police Department’s Marine Unit, and his role in more than 30 search and rescue missions in the past year and a half. Coast Guard officials said the police department’s Marine Unit has helped increase awareness about boating safety, including a major role in overseeing Ocean City’s annual Night in Venice.
