OCEAN CITY NAMES NEW DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY SERVICES

A three-term Ocean City Councilman got a major promotion Thursday night. A resolution to appoint Michael Allegretto as the Director of Community Services was passed unanimously. The annual salary for Allegretto will be $100,000 to oversee Ocean City’s recreation programs, the Music Pier, building inspections and code compliance, public relations and information, and to act as liaison to various merchant and nonprofit groups. The 44 year-old Allegretto, recused himself from the vote and resigned from his council seat to take the job. Council now has 30 days to fill the vacant seat.
