The Ocean City Board of Education passed a resolution Tuesday night to let the state of New Jersey know they approve the closing of Sea Isle City’s school. Under the plan, students from the Sea Isle City school would now attend Ocean City schools, but not their teachers or staff. If the state closes the school rather than the local school board, then the new sending district is not required to hire teachers from the closed school. Officials in the Ocean City school district say they cannot afford to hire the employees from Sea Isle City when the school closes.
