A large scale beach fill in Ocean City will be wrapping up within the next few weeks. Administrator Jim Rutala tells Coastal Broadcasting that the beach fill is coming close to completion. The $17 million fill is being funded mostly by federal dollars. Over 1.8 million cubic yards of sand will be pumped on the Ocean City beaches – the largest project in this community since 1992 when the federal beach replenishment program started. Beaches there were damaged from the Veteran’s Day storm. Once the fill is completed, other Cape May County communities waiting for fills, like Avalon and Sea Isle City, will be available to get their fills.
