The much heralded Italian-style horse racing will not happen on the beach this month in Atlantic City. On Wednesday the Atlantic City Alliance announced that the race was off, due to an inability to properly prepare the beach to create a firm course for the horses. Event organizers were hoping to hold the races during the Columbus Day holiday and special legislation was passed at the state level to allow it to happen.
