NJ SENATE PANEL APPROVES MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE

On Monday the Senate Budget Committee voted to raise the state’s minimum wage by $1.25 per hour. The Assembly passed the increase in May but the Senate debated with the Governor over making the issue a ballot question. Senate President Steve Sweeney has now decided to push the increase through the legislature and get it to Christie’s desk. If the governor then vetoes the bill, Sweeney says the minimum wage issue will go to the voters next year.
