After a judge temporarily lifted a state ban on concealed firearms in public places, an association representing Atlantic City’s gambling halls said in a statement the casinos will enact their own ban on their properties. Mark Giannantonio, the president of the Casino Association of New Jersey issued a statement Monday which read:
“The safety and well-being of our guests and employees is a top priority for the Atlantic City casino industry. Considering the Court Order temporarily restraining enforcement of the State law prohibiting the carrying of concealed firearms in public places, including casinos, all of the Atlantic City casinos are exercising their rights, as private property owners, to prohibit the carrying of firearms on their premises.”
Federal Judge Renee Marie Bumb issued a temporary restraining order last month prohibiting NJ officials from enforcing certain provisions of the law weeks after it’s passage, citing what she called “considerable constitutional problems.”
