Should casino gambling be allowed in areas of the state other than Atlantic City? Several members of the NJ State Assembly would like to see gambling in Bergen County at the Meadowlands complex. The Assembly is proposing a Casino Gaming Study Commission to study the possibility of casino gambling outside of Atlantic City. The idea has an long battle ahead, as several lawmakers have voiced their opposition, including Senator Jim Whelan and Governor Chris Christie. Ultimately, NJ voters would have to approve an amendment to the state constitution to allow gambling in other areas of the state.
