On Sunday the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office released the identity of a 22 year-old New York man who drowned while swimming off the beach in Mantoloking. Officials said John A. Crimmins, from Yonkers, New York, got separated from a group of friends while swimming and disappeared. After investigating the drowning, officials said on Tuesday that Crimmins suffered a seizure while swimming, and that contributed to his death. The U.S. Coast Guard, N.J. State Police and rescue crews found Crimmins body near Strickland Avenue in Bay Head, New Jersey, after searching for about 30 minutes. The man received CPR before being taken to Brick Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An official press release described Crimmins as an avid surfer and lifeguard.
