A new report issued before the weekend suggests the state of New Jersey should begin the privatization of many more services. The new report comes from Governor Chris Christie’s administration and suggests that the state begin to look at the privatization of many services and programs to save the state millions of dollars. Health care for prison inmates, and even motor vehicle emissions inspections paid for by the driver are part of the package. Toll collection jobs on the state’s major highways could also fall into private hands; the report says workers would be paid 50 percent less if a private company ran toll collections.
