A public/private partnership plan was introduced by Gov. Chris Christie that has drawn the ire of the New Jersey Education Association. Christie introduced a pilot plan that would allow a private company to take over five failing school districts and run them. A change like this will require legislative approval. The acting Education Commissioner, Christopher Cerf, had experience running a company that took over school districts like this.
