The new 2014 Miss America continued an Atlantic City after-pageant tradition on Monday. Nina Davuluri, the former Miss New York, waded into the Atlantic Ocean, a tradition than began with the pageant’s origin at the Jersey Shore. More than 10.000 people attended the crowning at Boardwalk Hall and the television ratings for the event were the highest since 2004, coming in at 9.8 million. The Miss America Organization has a three-year contract with Boardwalk Hall and the ABC television network.
