The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Urban Search & Rescue Strategic Group has approved the New Jersey Task Force One to enter the National Urban Search & Rescue System. Congressman Frank LoBiondo and other state representatives have been pushing FEMA to make this designation since the NJ TF1 was one of the first teams in New York City to respond to the attacks of September 11th. The group also showed their skills after Hurricane Sandy and the Tropicana parking garage collapse. The New Jersey task force now joins 27 other teams that are included in the National Urban Search and Rescue System.
