A big step forward for a measure that could create the state’s own saltwater fishing registry. A senate committee approved a bill that would allow the state to run its own saltwater fisherman registry. If approved, this registry would take the place of a federal program that is slated to be implemented on January 1. The full senate must still vote on this measure; it’s already been approved by the Assembly. Time is running out, if the bill is not approved by the end of this month, the federal program kicks in.
