NEW FLOOD MAPS RELEASED FOR CAPE MAY COUNTY

The Federal Emergency Management Agency released the new preliminary flood maps for Cape May County on Tuesday, with some significant changes. The new maps reduced the size of the high risk velocity zones by about 80 percent, compared to the preliminary maps released in December. Overall, the maps show an increase over current maps for flood zones and the height of building elevations, used to determine rates for flood insurance.
