The full Senate gave its approval for a new education commissioner. David Hespe is serving in the role for the second time in his career. He previously held the title during the tenure of Gov. Christine Todd Whitman. Hespe had been the acting commissioner for the past nine months, but hadn’t been given a confirmation hearing by the Senate until now. The confirmation for Hespe came unanimously from lawmakers in the Senate.
