Cape May is down a council member. Jerry Inderweis Jr. resigned suddenly following a tense meeting Tuesday afternoon. Inderweis resigned soon after the city demoted its police chief, Robert Sheehan, to the rank of captain. According to the Press of Atlantic City, city officials say Sheehan was under a criminal investigation by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, which County Prosecutor Robert Taylor flat out denied. Inderweis took his oath of office just nine weeks ago. Cape May is now without a police chief, and short one member of Council.
