A new county budget was introduced by freeholders that includes a tax increase of less than one half of a cent. The new proposed county tax rate will be 20.9 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. Freeholder Director Gerald Thornton says the budget is solid, and affordable. The county will use $9 million in surplus funding to balance the budget, which may get final approvals during the March 11th meeting.
