Brand new beach access rules are coming to the state of New Jersey. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is expected on Monday to publish brand new beach access rules that would replace the one set of rules the state tried to apply to every beach town in the state. DEP Commissioner Bob Martin says each town will present their own plan that will provide adequate access to the state. Avalon successfully sued the DEP under the Corzine administration, and the one size fits all approach to beach access in every shore community was rejected by the courts. Some environmental groups including the New Jersey Sierra Club do not approve of the new approach.
