MURDER SUSPECT APPEARS IN COURT ON FATAL SHOOTING

A 36 year-old Atlantic City man who turned himself in on Monday, appeared in Superior Court on Tuesday to face murder charges. Gregory Gibbs is accused of the fatal shooting of Chikki Smith in the parking lot of a Pleasantville bar just prior to midnight on December 3rd. Gibbs told the judge he planned to hire an attorney to defend him against murder and weapons charges. The suspect has a history of criminal activity since 1996 and has pleaded guilty to at least four crimes, according to a report in The Press of Atlantic City.
