A unique athletic competition was held Saturday and Sunday on the Wildwood beach at Schellenger Avenue. The Morey’s Pier Beach Sports Weekend was billed as the only multi-event track meet in the country held entirely on the beach. The festival attracted sixty-three boys and girls high school lacrosse teams, 25 field hockey teams, and a variety of track-and-field athletes, totaling over 2,000 from along the East Coast. Organizers are making plans for an even bigger beach sports festival next summer, to take advantage to the wide world-famous Wildwood beach.
