The biggest business in Wildwood and the city government don’t see eye to eye on future EDM, or electronic dance music concerts in the city. The city signed a three year deal with the group that put on the Beachglow concert last year over the Fourth of July weekend. The concerts will remain on that weekend, despite the concerns of vulgarity and loud music that business owners like Morey’s Piers have presented. City Commissioner Pete Byron said the city admitted there were some issues in the first one last year, but those concerns are addressed and that it is a good event to move the city forward. He also noted the EDM music is the new wave. Jack Morey, one of the owners of the pier spoke with Coastal Broadcasting, and said the agreement was finalized on New Year’s eve, without enough discussion with the surrounding business community and while he respects the music as an artform, it doesn’t belong near Schellenger Ave., which is the front line that many families visit on the boardwalk.
