The new Miss America, Nina Davuluri, visited the St. Joseph Regional School in Somers Point on Tuesday to promote her platform on diversity. Davuluri spoke to 530 students from pre-kindergarden to eighth grade about celebrating diversity through cultural competency and answered many questions from the children. She told the group that she’s part of a text message group of former contestants and stressed the importance of community service. Davuluri is planning to use her $50,000 scholarship prize for medical school studies.
