MILLVILLE MAN HAS FIRST APPEARANCE IN COURT FOR KILLING CHILD

A man accused of killing a 9 week old baby was arraigned on Tuesday on charges including murder. Manuel Mikes is the step father of the victim of the murder; the infant’s death has been ruled a homicide by the New Jersey Medical Examiner’s Office. Police say there was blunt force trauma to the baby’s head. Mikes has been arrested 41 times prior to the death of the stepdaughter. The bail for Mikes was maintained at $1 million, despite a request by the prosecution to increase the bail to $2 million.
