A 69 year old Middle Township man has been charged with assault on a police officer after he refused to exit the Stone Harbor beach with his unleashed dog on Friday evening. Richard Brys struck a police sergeant in the chest with his elbow when he resisted being placed under arrest. Brys argued with the cops saying he was allowed to have his dog on the beach because it is “federal property”. The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the case.
