On Wednesday the public schools in Middle Township were placed on lockdown for 20 minutes due to a possible threat from social media. The Cape May City Police Department received information that a threat had been made to an unnamed school and posted online. Detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office traced the threat to a 22 year-old Middle Township resident who has been detained for questioning by police. The investigation is continuing this afternoon and criminal charges may be pending. Nobody was hurt and classes resumed at the Middle Township schools after police officers were posted there.
