Middle Township Police are looking into an alleged crime that took place at an apartment located in Edgewood, located on Route 9, early this morning. The following is a press release about the incident.
During the early morning hours of Friday October 22nd, police communications received a “911” call of a man being held up in his apartment, at knife-point, by two subjects. Patrols responded to the area and met with the victim, who said a smaller white male with a camouflaged hoodie and a taller black male with a black hoodie, forced their way into his residence, demanding money. The victim retreated to a secured back room, where he called the police department to report the incident.
Both subjects then fled the area. The victim was not injured from the attack, but did receive a small cut on his leg while moving to the secured area. Nothing was reported stolen during the attempted robbery. Detective Doug Osmundsen of the Major Crimes Unit, was called in to assist with the investigation. The Cape May County Sheriff’s Department, K-9 Unit, was also called in to assist with a search for the subjects. Tracking scents did not go beyond the driveway area, supporting information that a vehicle was used as a method of escape.
Anyone with information concerning this incident is urged to call the Major Crimes Unit (465-8700), or Crime Stoppers. Information leading to an arrest in the case may lead to a cash reward for the information provided.
