The Middle Township Environmental Commission recently applied for and received a $2,500 grant from the Clean Air Cool Planet Community Catalyst Fund. The fund will pay for technical and administrative assistance to be certified by the Sustainable Jersey Program™. The program is a comprehensive guide for towns that want to take actions that save money, conserve resources, and support their communities.
The Township also received a State Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant which paid 100% of an energy audit for Township Hall. Applications have been submitted to the same program to implement the recommendations of the study, specifically lighting and lighting control upgrades and roof-top cooling/heating unit upgrades. It expected that the upgrades will significantly improve energy efficiency and lead to long term savings for the Township
